Oklahoma Senate Assembly Room

Oklahoma City · Oklahoma

In 2014 MA+ completed a restoration of the Senate Assembly Room at the Oklahoma State Capitol. The room currently accommodates legislative sessions and was one of the last original monumental spaces to be restored within the State's Capitol building. Prior to the renovation, the space housed offices with low, drab ceilings. The original ceiling was discovered by the firm through research and in-depth inspections and is once again a major element of the design. The room now seats over 100 people and provides the flexibility and technology required for meetings and special events. The audio and visual technology was integrated so not to detract from the neo-classical design. Hard wood floors and custom rugs, color scheme, and an ornate coffered ceiling harken back to the 1914 design of the building. Period chandeliers and wall sconces highlight the plantation shutters and drapery. Adjacent serving and storage rooms serve the multi-purpose use of this beautiful space.
