Southwestern Oklahoma State University hired MA+ Architecture to design the new $21 million Pioneer Cellular Event Center on their campus. The new 75,000 square foot Event Center allows the school and the City to host larger community events and attract new students to the University. The new Center is home to the University's basketball and volleyball teams and is also used for other athletic events, trade shows, concerts and conferences. The new Event Center is the only venue of its type in Western Oklahoma. The new facility will accommodate 3,500 people during athletic events and 5,000 during concerts. Construction on the Event Center was completed in December of 2013.
