Southwestern Oklahoma State University Henrietta Mann Residence Hall

Weatherford, OK

Education, Interior Design

In the fall of 2014, MA+ Architecture was selected to provide an investigative study of the existing Rogers & Jefferson Residence Halls for the purpose of renovating the dormitory halls into modern residential facilities to serve the student population at SWOSU. The investigative team consisted of an architect, interior designer, mechanical engineer and electrical engineer. This team evaluated the building consisting of two residential towers, mechanical systems, electrical systems, code evaluations and studied potential remodel plan options to provide a thorough report and cost estimate outlining potential costs for the building renovation. In 2009, MA+ provided a report of the exterior window system and detailed the potential energy savings that could be provided should the window systems be replaced. This report was included in the final feasibility study and the possibility of updating the look of the building as part of a window replacement system was also investigated. This report created the foundation, and allowed the administration of Southwestern Oklahoma State University to properly plan for the future renovation of this facility.

The Rogers Hall tower, renamed to Henrietta Mann Hall, has been renovated along with the first floor shared lobby between the two towers. Construction was completed in the spring of 2018. Renovations on the Jefferson Hall tower will begin in the upcoming years.
